Boutique Private Editing Services for Wedding Photographers

I have a feeling this is the start of a beautiful relationship.

I think it’s safe to say that most photographers HATE the editing process. I get it! It can be repetitive, tedious, and robs you of time you could be spending on shooting, building relationships with clients, and expanding your business. But now you have me! I love editing, I always have, and I am so ready to give you back some of your precious time so you can focus on your business, your family, your travels, or whatever the most important parts of your life are.

Clients always want to know what my secret is; how do I avoid getting burnt out taking on so much editing? After a long day of shooting, the last thing you want to think about is the hours upon hours of editing work that lie ahead. But since I’ve started my editing business, I’ve learned how much more enjoyable it is to edit other photographers’ work than it is to edit my own. When I’m editing another photographer’s wedding, I’m seeing and experiencing everything from that day for the first time. I get to see weddings from parts of the world I’ve never even been to, and catch a glimpse into the love stories between couples I’ve never met. I ride that high throughout the editing process, and it never gets boring for me!

I’ve worked with a lot of clients, and even with a professional editing company, so I’m perfectly capable of replicating any editing style you throw my way! Light & airy? Sure! Dark & moody? Absolutely! Whatever your style, I can handle it! Oh, and did I mention that I’ve been doing this a really long time? I don’t want to date myself, but let’s just say Obama was still in his first term.

Your photos are your lifeblood. Your baby. I’ll handle them with the greatest of care, because I understand that they’re your photos, and you need them done your way. I’ll replicate your editing style, and ensure your photos are consistent with your brand. No one will ever know the difference *wink*.

How It All Works

The biggest benefit of having a private photo editor, as opposed to going with one of the major editing companies, is that you’ll only have one person to deal with… that’s me! Dealing with multiple editors and team members can lead to a lot of miscommunication, re-explaining yourself, and inconsistent editing done by someone new each time. When you work with me I’ll take the time to learn your style and the images you receive from each shoot will be consistent. I’m a one-woman operation, so you’ll always be communicating with me directly! But before we get started, let me give you a brief rundown of the process:

1. Getting to Know You

We’ll set up a video chat so we can meet face-to-face, and get to know each other a bit, and then we’ll chat a bit about your personal editing style and process.

2. Upload Your Sample Images

You’ll send me your Lightroom gallery of around 10-50 unedited sample photos via Dropbox along with any presets/anchor images you’d like me to use. I don’t need the RAWs; you’ll be exporting the images as smart previews through Lightroom. Don’t worry if you’ve never done that before, it’s really easy and I’ve explained the process here.

3. Sample Gallery

Once I receive your sample images, I’ll send you a gallery of edits, no charge. You’ll look over the edits and provide some feedback, and then once you’re comfortable with the results we can start on your first wedding gallery.

4. Quarterly Meetings

We’ll set up a quick call or zoom meeting at the beginning of every quarter to go over the dates for your upcoming weddings. I’ll need a deposit of $100 per wedding at this time, which will count towards the final cost of each project. I do not add wedding dates to my schedule until receiving a deposit. I can only edit a handful of weddings per week, and so having this deposit in advance guarantees your 1 week turnaround time, and allows me to gauge how many weddings I can take on per month.

Quick Turnaround

You’ll receive your edits within 1 week after I have received your gallery, however, last-minute orders may take up to 2 weeks, which is why I recommend providing your expected wedding dates and deposits at the beginning of each quarter to guarantee your 1 week turnaround time. Rush delivery (2-3 days) is available for an additional fee.

 For Me, It’s About Freedom

People often think I must be crazy for wanting to take on other photographers’ editing work. As a natural-born night owl, a hopeless daydreamer, and a girl who never fully grew out of her emo phase, I knew from a pretty young age that I wasn’t meant for that 9-5 life and that I was destined for a creative career that would allow me to live my ideal lifestyle. This became even more apparent when I began to suffer some long-term effects from a car crash I was in several years ago. Creating beautiful, meaningful photographs is my passion, but, as much as I love shooting weddings, my time behind the camera is limited these days because of a debilitating back injury resulting from that accident, and an unrelated chronic illness. But in all honesty, I’m okay with that because I LOVE editing, and being a private photo editor gives me the freedom to still play an active role in the wedding photography industry, while avoiding strenuous activities and being able to practice self-care on the days my body needs it most. It gives me the freedom to spend a great deal of time with my two rescue dogs (children), and I get to see the progress they make first-hand every day! It gives me the freedom to keep in touch with and visit my loved ones around the country. I absolutely love what I do and the life it allows me to live :)
